Stephen Turner joined the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials as a panelist at their annual conference.

Stephen discussed the necessity of measurement and verification in achieving energy efficiency in multifamily housing, as well as technical resources for NAHRO members, the effectiveness of the recommissioning process, and the benefits of preventive maintenance.

Marie Bozeman and Dylan Myers received certificates of completion for the course,Leading the Commissioning Process: Step-by-Step Strategies for New Construction Projects from University of Wisconsin-Madison. The course is facilitated by the University’s Department of Engineering, and is taught by various industry leaders; including the firm’s own Stephen Turner. Learning objectives include a comprehensive understanding of the commissioning process as well as how to implement successful leadership strategies.

Jayme Allard discussed successful capital equipment replacement planning as an integral part of recommissioning strategies at the BCA 23rd National Conference for Building Commissioning (NCBC) 2015. This presentation highlights the importance of strategic planning methods that can be implemented by commissioning providers to inform the owners and support long-term budgeting requirements related to major equipment replacements.

Stephen Turner Inc. is excited to jump into one of our most recently awarded commissioning projects located right in our backyard. We are grateful to be a part of the Moses Brown campus master plan and provide our services for the new Woodman Community & Performance Center and renovation of the Walter Jones Library. This new community and performance facility is being designed to qualify for LEED Silver certification and have allocated funds dedicated to increasing the sustainability and performance of the project. The project will seek to provide superior indoor environmental quality for this new innovation hub for the students.

As a partner with National Grid’s Code Compliance Enhancement Initiative, Stephen Turner Inc. will lead a tour of Brown University's BERT project. The project included complete renovation of the existing 55,000 sf, four-story, Hunter Lab building. The project is predicted to reduce annual site energy by more than 25%. Energy efficiency measures include interior spray foam insulation, HVAC energy recovery, chilled beam, radiant heat, reduced light power densities, and automatic occupancy & daylight dimming controls. AIA and code official education credits are available for this tour.

Stephen Turner Inc. has been approved as a qualified vendor for the new Rhode Island Master Price Agreement (MPA-488) to provide Energy Management Consulting services for state and municipal schools & public buildings.
This MPA will allow public agencies to easily procure energy management and master planning services on an as-needed basis to address substantial energy efficiency opportunities pertaining to HVAC, lighting, and building enclosure systems.
